Fall in Texas

Outside My Kitchen Window
In north Texas, fall lasts about two days. Sometimes we get lucky and you can watch the transformation for a little longer. But honestly, most of the time if you blink, you might miss the leaves changing colors before they’re blown or washed away by the next rain storm.  I love to sit at my kitchen table for breakfast as the sturdy red oak next door changes. It’s the last one on the block, hanging onto its leaves until Thanksgiving. We’ve volunteered several times to rake the leaves for my neighbor…lots of fun when the kids are over to enjoy it.

I lost a friend this past week. When a death occurs, it makes you appreciate your life and evaluate where you are (at least for me). Sometimes life is just a blink of an eye. Don’t let it pass you by.

Was your last committment more about a sudden change or a realization you had growing on you for a while?

THUNDER THURSDAY

Thunderhead in Farmers Branch
It's Like Lightening

If you look closely in the center of the cloud, it’s not a scratch…it’s lightening. My little camera did two things my husband said it couldn’t. It caught a great picture of the thunderhead gathering to the northeast of us at twilight AND it caught lightening flashing through the cloud.

A simple reminder that the people around us may doubt, may think what we’re trying to achieve is impossible, or shouldn’t happen…  but “THEY” aren’t always right.

You must give away a little of yourself–take a small risk–before you can achieve even little things.

Ecstatic, Delighted, Euphoric

My husband and I made the trip to our local Barnes & Noble store Sunday. And there it was…my first Harlequin Intrigue. It wasn’t all alone on the shelf, but surrounded by great names–many of them friends that I’ve made over the past ten years. But the feeling…is it indescribable?

Dr. Jane Palmer, from Hill Country Holdup (my September release), knows a lot of words. And if she doesn’t have the exact word, she’ll go through the thesaurus until she finds the perfect word. Following her example…

Seeing my book for the first time was thrilling, exciting, breath-taking, awe-inspiring, awesome, rousing, exhilarating, stimulating, gripping AND motivating, inspiring, moving, rousing, grand, splendid, tremendous AND more than all of that to the tenth power.

WOO HOO !

These pictures were actually taken 9-14 by one of my CPs, Kym Roberts. Thanks to Kym for holding my hand as I visited area stores, dropping off bookmarks and meeting Community Representatives.

DON’T FORGET to leave 5 comments on 5 blogs I’m touring this week to be entered in a drawing. AND send me your picture holding the cover of HILL COUNTRY HOLDUP –you’ll be entered in another drawing for more terrific prizes.

CHALLENGE: You can’t say congratulations (to me)… and you can’t use the words above do describe what it WILL feel like OR did feel like to see your book for the first time.

Bluebonnets in Texas

The state flower of Texas appears along most of the roads and highways throughout the Hill Country. It’s one of the main reasons to just take a drive through the countryside and enjoy the day. All types of wildflowers are actually seeded…and if the rain is plentiful (like in 2010), then the Bluebonnets are absolutely out of this world.  Today is the official launch day of my first Harlequin Intrigue, Hill Country Holdup, and there’s not one mention of a Bluebonnet in the book. LOL But, yes, it does take place in the Hill Country of Texas.

The picture today was taken this past spring near Austin by my youngest daughter. Even on a cloudy day a field of wildflowers just begs for its picture to be taken. And shared.

And here we come to the point of my brand new blog… A Picture A Day… will be sharing pictures and how they inspire. Some of my guests will be authors, some pre-published, and some days it will just be me. I hope you’ll share how you’re inspired: either by the photo I offer or your own.

Welcome…
